The ground pulsed faintly beneath my feet, rhythm synced with lunar phases I couldn’t name. I should have been frightened. But instead, I exhaled and felt known. There was no sound but the rustling of the sky. Yes—the sky. It rustled. Like silk. Or wings. Or whispered names. My tumbler, which I’d brought from home, glowed faintly in my pack.
